SALINAS, CA, December 16, 2013 - Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) is providing the community with free resources to help navigate the insurance exchange programs created under healthcare reform. SVMHS has free bi-lingual certified counselors available to assist families wanting to enroll in the Healthcare Insurance Exchange.
“Our certified counselors can help people make sense of their insurance options,” says Pete Delgado, president/CEO of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. “Families can get face-to-face help from qualified professionals who know the ins and outs of the insurance exchange programs.”
The Affordable Care Act is designed to expand access to affordable health insurance nationwide. In California, millions of residents will have new options under healthcare reform through the state’s new marketplace website, Covered California.
SVMHS is working with MedAssist and has established an office in the Administration building at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. The certified counselors do not advocate specific plans, rather they provide expert knowledge and support for patients and community members seeking online enrollment in the Healthcare Insurance Exchange and Medi-Cal.
The bi-lingual certified counselors are available 40 hours a week including evening appointments. In person help is available now by calling (877) 423-1537 or (831) 759-1911. In addition to scheduling a personal appointment, more information is available at www.svmh.com/medassist.
