Salinas, CA (February 22, 2013) – Karina Rusk has joined Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System’s Marketing and Public Relations Department. Rusk comes to SVMHS with more than 25 years experience as an award winning multi-media journalist honored by the Associated Press and Radio Television News Directors Association.
In her communications position, Rusk will contribute to a wide range of information platforms addressing the needs of SVMHS patients, employees and the community. “Karina’s knowledge, skills and professionalism are tremendous assets as Salinas Valley Memorial embarks on an exciting new chapter,” said Adrienne Laurent, senior administrative director of marketing, government and public relations at SVMHS. “Karina’s communication skills and her media background will be important as we continue to reach out to our community. We feel very fortunate to have been able to recruit someone of Karina’s caliber, and we’re grateful that she was willing to leave a successful career in television news to join the Salinas Valley Memorial family.”
Rusk joins SVMHS after more than 12 years with ABC7 News/KGO TV in San Francisco. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Rusk was a news anchor in Monterey County for a decade. Her long-held intention to eventually return to the area is finally realized with this move.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Rusk is an active community volunteer. She is a recipient of the Rusty Stratton Community Service Award, Volunteer Center of Monterey County and passionate advocate for a number of non-profit organizations including SPCA for Monterey County, Kinship Center and Special Olympics.
